Legal requirements for manufacturers of detergents and cleaning products

Manufacturers who market detergents and cleaning products are subject to certain legal reporting obligations in Germany and the EU. In particular, product information must be provided for use by poison control centers.

A key requirement is the notification of mixtures classified as hazardous to health and physical health to ECHA (European Chemicals Agency) . Only mixtures that are hazardous to the environment, gases under pressure, and all mixtures classified as non-hazardous, for example, are exempt from notification to ECHA. Voluntary notification to ECHA is always possible (Voluntary Poison Centre Notification).

Notifications of mixtures to ECHA involve the creation of a PCN (Poison Centre Notification) in a special file format, which ensures that relevant product information is quickly available for medical emergencies.

An essential component of the notification is the UFI (Unique Formula Identifier) . This is a 16-digit, unique formula identifier that must be placed on the product label. The UFI code is used to identify the exact composition of a product and to enable rapid and targeted medical advice in the event of poisoning.

For you as a customer this means:

  • Anyone who purchases our product automatically fulfills all legal reporting requirements in Germany and the EU.
  • We report the customer's product name to ECHA in addition to our already registered product (if the reporting obligation applies here) , so that no separate notification by the customer is required.
  • The UFI code is directly from our product notified to ECHA and is automatically included on the product label, including our contact details, i.e. those of the manufacturer.
  • The safety data sheet (SDS) can be accessed at any time for your own records.
  • This comprehensive service is already included in the purchase price of the product and is fully factored in, so there are no additional costs for the legally required registration and documentation.

By properly reporting and labeling our products, we ensure the highest safety standards for users and emergency services and completely relieve our customers of the associated obligations.
